Living Beyond

So even to old age and gray hairs,
O God, do not forsake me,
until I proclaim your might to all the generations to come.
(Psalm 71:18, NRS)

Good Morning,

As a child I spent a school year with a group of thirty students in a basement class room. The only windows in the room were near the ceiling, positioned at ground level. Our teacher continually instructed us to look up and out of the windows, imagining what was beyond our realm of reality. She explained failure would come only to those who never tried to see something beyond their circumstances.

The Psalmist prayerfully perceived there was more to life than his present circumstances in the book of Psalms (71:18):

So even to old age and gray hairs: Aging in the Western world is resisted and avoided. Conversely, in the ancient days of the Psalmist, the aging process was considered an honor.
Prayerfully seek to serve God all the days of your life.

O God, do not forsake me: Purposeful living occurs through the abiding presence of God. The Psalmist prayed that God would not forsake him.
Prayerfully surrender and develop an awareness of His continual presence.

Until I proclaim your might to all the generations to come: As noted last week, proclaiming is announcing a message.

Prayerfully proclaim the message of the presence of God.

The gospel (Good News) is the believer’s life message. Examine how the Apostle Paul proclaimed his new life message (the gospel) though he was in a Roman prison in the book of Romans. Many of his Jewish brethren hated him for proclaiming the gospel. Despite the circumstances, the Apostle Paul wrote from prison:

15 So I am eager to come to you in Rome,
too,
to preach God's Good News.
16 For I am not ashamed of this Good News about Christ.
It is the power of God at work,
saving everyone who believes-- Jews first and also Gentiles.
(Romans 1:15-16, NLT).

The power is continually working in those who carry the gospel as their life- message. Proclaiming the life message of the gospel in attitude, words, and action allows an individual to live beyond the circumstances of this world.
Choose to live beyond your circumstances.
Choose the gospel as your life message.
Choose to proclaim your life message in your attitude, words, and actions.

Learning with you to look beyond circumstances by sharing the message,
Kerrie
