The Light of Hope

Rescue me, O my God, from the hand of the wicked,
from the grasp of the unjust and cruel.
For you, O Lord, are my hope,
my trust, O LORD, from my youth.
(Psalm 71:4-5, NRS)

Good Morning,

Last night, I drove on a four-mile stretch of our rocky road in dense fog. I inched my way along the road as the lone lights of my car pierced through the darkness and fog. The lights of other vehicles would have made it easier to see and travel down the road.

Likewise, the divine Light enables us to see and understand the truth of living, transforming our journey of life. The gospel of John explained the divine Light:

3 All things came into being through him,
and without him not one thing came into being.
What has come into being
4 in him was life,
and the life was the light of all people.
5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not overcome it.

The divine Light of God permeates the darkness of daily living producing hope. The Psalmist prayed this truth--

Rescue me, O my God, from the hand of the wicked: God personally rescues you and I from whoever and whatever causes chaos within our being.

From the grasp of the unjust and cruel: God actively protects us from what is unjust or cruel to our soul. God seizes His beloved from the grasp of evil.

For you, O Lord, are my hope: God is the source of hope, the Light in the darkness of this world.

My trust, O LORD, from my youth: Trust is a choice. We must examine our trust every day, asking—am I putting my trust in the Lord or ???

Take time to pray—to seek the Light, the Hope of life, in the journey of daily living.

Learning with you to seek the Light, the Hope of life,
