The Tree House

Today's question to meditate on: What does your life reveal about your belief in what God says?

"What do you mean?" Nicodemus asked. Jesus replied, "You are a respected Jewish teacher, and yet you don't understand these things? I assure you, I am telling you what we know and have seen, and yet you won't believe us. But if you don't even believe me when I tell you about things that happen here on earth, how can you possibly believe if I tell you what is going on in heaven? (John 3: 9-12, NLT)

Our family went on vacation and stayed in an advertised tree house. While we had incredible fun, the house was different than what we had believed it to be. One of the most, well . . . shall I say "interesting" features, was the lack of walls and doors. The thing is, you get to know and appreciate one another when you live without walls and doors between one another . . . that would be literally as well as metaphorically.

We were not completely surprised by the discrepancy between the advertised statements and the reality of the tree house. Most of us expect advertising to be somewhat skewed to catch people's attention. At the end of the day, we tend to be skeptical about what we are promised. Some things never change. Nicodemus, a man that lived in the ancient days, struggled with believing what Jesus promised: new life! He faced Jesus, God with us, spending time in His presence . . . heard His words . . . conversed with him . . . got to know him . . . but it seemed too good to be true.

Isn't that what you and I do?

Do we truly believe God?

We say we believe but do we?

Do we live out that belief?

Or . . . do we live as if there is a difference between what God has said and true reality?

Evaluate your belief. Are you open to the reality of what God has promised? Do you expect a "tree house" experience?

Learning with you to believe God,
Shalom,
Kerrie
